The house is located in a peaceful country hamlet set amidst rolling pastures and farm land, which was often popular subjects for the great landscape impressionists of the 19th Century.

The hamlet has 6 permanent homes and 2 homes owned by second home families.

In days gone by the village carved out clogs or 'sabots' in French, the origin of the hamlet's name 'Les Gouges'.

8 Kms away is the larger town of La Souterraine which has Roman origins, with vestiges visible and available to tour underneath the medieval church.

Several large supermarkets are here along with DIY stores, garden centres, several cafés and restaurants, a cinema and a hospital clinic.

La Souterraine is well served by a main line railway station with trains running to Paris and even Barcelona in Spain.

Limoges is the largest city and has an international airport 40 minutes drive away and it connects the region with Paris, the UK and even North Africa for exotic breaks.
